Smith Appointed at Mutual of Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (Oct. 4, 2022) – Tony Smith has been appointed Vice President and Medical Director at Mutual of Omaha. He creates and develops medical policy as well as provides oversight and management of strategic and day-to-day elements of the medical review of disability claims, products, consultations and medical triage in the Workplace Solutions strategic business unit.   

Before joining Mutual, Smith was a physician in the United States Air Force. He has experience as a family medicine physician in private practice and emergency medicine with EmCare at the Erlanger Health System. Smith was most recently a medical consultant at UNUM.   

Smith received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He received a doctorate from Des Moines University and did his internship and residency at East Tennessee State University.
