Topping Out Ceremony for New Mutual of Omaha Tower

Final Steel Beams Hoisted in Place; Construction Crews Recognized for Work 

OMAHA, Neb. – JE Dunn, the general contractor of Mutual of Omaha’s downtown headquarters construction project, hosted a topping-out celebration on Wednesday, March 25, at the construction site located at 200 S. 14th Street.

The event marked the completion of the structural phase of the project with the final steel beam placement and recognized the construction and engineering teams that have played a significant role on the project.

The final two steel beams signed by the construction and engineering teams and Mutual of Omaha employees were on display with a traditional evergreen tree and flag.

Following remarks from representatives from JE Dunn, Lanoha Real Estate Co. and Mutual of Omaha, the beams were hoisted into the sky and placed atop the 677-ft. structure.

Construction Updates:

  • All major concrete pours complete
  • Glass exterior curtain wall completed through Level 42
  • Several interior workplace floor nearing completion
  • Masonry, framing, drywall, insulation, elevators, fireproofing, mechanical and electrical work are proceeding quickly within the podium base and tower

Milestones Ahead 

  • Building enclosure complete and crane demobilization: Summer 2026
  • Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) testing: Summer 2026
  • Includes testing of HVAC, power, lighting, safety, water and drainage systems
  • Building occupancy: Fall 2026

  • At 677 feet and 44 floors, the tower will be the tallest building in the region
  • Includes 2,200 parking spaces for associates on weekdays and community use on evenings/weekends
  • Designed for a hybrid work model with 800,000 square feet (current Mutual of Omaha campus is 1.7 million square feet)
  • Features five floors (16-20) of amenity space including a “sky lobby,” full-service dining options, fitness and wellness services, tech concierge, flexible meeting spaces and landscaped outdoor terraces
  • The 44th floor will house conference facilities with dramatic two-story atrium views
