Mutual of Omaha Maintains A+ Rating and Receives Financial Strength Assessment Upgrade
OMAHA, Neb. — S&P Global Ratings has affirmed the A+ financial strength and issuer credit ratings of Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company and maintained its stable outlook. The agency also upgraded its assessment of the company’s Financial Risk Profile and Capital and Earnings strength from Very Strong to Excellent.
In its Aug. 20 report, S&P cited Mutual’s extremely strong capital position, diversified earnings and improved financial flexibility as key factors supporting the ratings affirmation and upgrade. The agency noted that Mutual continues to maintain capital redundancy at the 99.99% confidence level under its risk-based capital model and is well positioned to maintain that strength.
S&P also highlighted Mutual’s strong competitive position, noting its market leadership in Medicare supplement and whole life insurance, as well as top 10 positions across several additional product lines. The agency expects Mutual to maintain strong operating performance, disciplined capital management and solid market positions over the next two years.
