Swartwood Promoted at Mutual of Omaha
OMAHA, Neb. – Amy Swartwood has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Treasurer at Mutual of Omaha. She is a member of the Finance Executive Team reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Swartwood provides leadership and direction of Finance Operations, including oversight of the strategy, development, management, and enhancement of the Finance Operation Systems and project management; ensuring accuracy of information as well as full integration and standardization of process controls for accurate and efficient financial reporting; and providing leadership on Finance process improvement, automation, and efficiency.
Swartwood also provides leadership and direction of Treasury Operations, including oversight of preparation of Board of Directors’ resolutions and implementations for the Company bank accounts and borrowing facilities; development, analysis and implementation of efficient operating policies and procedures related to short-term investing and borrowing. She also serves as chief of staff for the CFO, driving strategy and communication across the Finance and Actuarial team.
Swartwood joined Mutual in 2013 as the Director of Special Assets for Mutual of Omaha Bank. She was promoted to the Director of Operational Risk Management for Mutual of Omaha Bank and then recruited for the same role within Mutual. In 2018, Swartwood was named Director of Insurance Risk Management and joined the first cohort of the Accelerated Leadership Development Program (ALDP). In 2020, she was promoted to Vice President of Finance and added to the Finance Executive Team.
Swartwood has more than 20 years of finance and risk management experience. Before joining Mutual, she was employed in finance and risk management positions at both Security National Bank and Bank of the West.
Swartwood earned a bachelor’s degree from Midland Lutheran College, a master’s degree from Bellevue University and graduated from the Southwest Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.
Swartwood is a board member at Girls Inc. of Omaha. She is a member of the Insurance Company Risk Management Group (ICRMG) and Chief, a private membership network focused on connecting and supporting women executive leaders.
