New Mutual of Omaha Tower Now the Tallest Building in Nebraska

Employees Currently Signing Final Steel Beam, Which Will Top Out Construction in November
OMAHA, Neb. – Construction on Mutual of Omaha’s new downtown Omaha headquarters building has reached Level 44, which will be its highest occupied floor, making the building now the tallest in Nebraska.
As construction remains on track toward completion in Fall of 2026, the project has reached several significant milestones in recent weeks:
- Structural steel now extends past Level 35 on all sides, marking a major step in the building’s vertical ascent and underscoring the impressive scale of the tower.
- In late August, the tower crane completed its sixth and final jump, reaching its full height of 780 feet. With the crane in place, crews are guiding the top-out of the shear core and tower steel, bringing the structure closer to its ultimate height.
- The final shear core concrete has been poured, officially completing all vertical concrete work.
Exterior progress is also giving the building a more finished look. Perforated metal panels are being placed on exterior of the parking garage, providing ventilation and architectural finish. The glass exterior of the building continues to advance skyward, creating a seamless and reflective finished look.
Interior work is also underway through Level 21, beginning to create the contemporary workspace Mutual of Omaha employees will occupy in Fall of 2026.
Mutual Associates Signing Final Steel Beam
Vertical construction is expected to officially top out in November. The 13-foot, 350-pound final steel beam for the tower is currently located inside Mutual of Omaha’s existing home office campus for employees to sign before it is set in place. Local media will be notified with details in advance of the topping out.
About Mutual of Omaha’s New Headquarters

At 677 feet, the building will feature 44 floors, making it the tallest building in the region. At approximately 800,000 square feet (compared to Mutual of Omaha’s current 1.7-million-square-foot Midtown Omaha campus), the building will be designed for hybrid work. Lanoha Real Estate Company in Omaha is the developer for the project, which is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
