Brody Merrill to Become Chief Financial Officer at Mutual of Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. – Insurance industry veteran Brody Merrill will become Chief Financial Officer at Mutual of Omaha effective Dec. 1, according to Chairman and CEO James Blackledge.

Merrill recently served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for American National Insurance Company. With more than 24 years of strategic financial leadership across the insurance, technology and asset management industries, he has a strong track record in capital management, risk oversight and optimizing business performance, Blackledge said.

“Brody brings proven experience as an insurance industry CFO. As we seek to fulfill our mission of helping more people more completely meet their financial needs, Brody’s expertise in strategic execution and focus on improving returns to fund growth aligns with our strategic ambition and enduring customer commitment,” Blackledge said. “In addition, Brody is a visionary leader who will be a strong cultural fit at Mutual of Omaha. We look forward to his many contributions as a member of our executive leadership team.”

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Merrill earned his bachelor’s degree from Weber State University and received an MBA from Santa Clara University. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
