Ghost of the Prairie

As ghosts of the prairie, black-footed ferrets rely on prairie dogs for food and their burrows for shelter. But, poisoning programs in the early 1900s took out this fluffy prey. With nothing to eat, experts thought the black-footed ferret was extinct.
