The history of Wild Kingdom

Premiering on NBC in 1963, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom – hosted by Marlin Perkins and Jim Fowler – pioneered nature television, bringing viewers into animals’ natural habitats. Sponsored by Mutual of Omaha, the series showed the link of protection between the human and animal kingdoms. Wild Kingdom aired in over 40 countries, influencing public understanding of wildlife conservation. Today, Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild continues to highlight global conservation efforts.
