More than 60 years since its original premiere, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom returns to television
Wild Kingdom pioneered the nature adventure genre, setting the standard for today’s wildlife programming. Hosted by Marlin Perkins and Jim Fowler, this prestigious show brought animal conservation to millions of American living rooms for the very first time, and blazed a trail for all the natural history shows that followed it. The legacy continued when Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild premiered on NBC in October 2023.
This most loved and respected wildlife program still has one core mission: Inspire the next generation of wildlife enthusiasts to preserve species under threat of extinction in our modern world.

What’s to come in Season Two on NBC
Season Two of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting the Wild premieres on NBC’s “The More You Know” programming block Oct. 5. Guided by Co-Hosts Peter Gros and Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant, each episode will shed light on the tireless efforts of trusted wildlife organizations and experts to safeguard endangered and threatened species. Viewers will get an up-close look at many exciting animals, such as Dr. Wynn-Grant’s venture into a black bear’s den to assist in the health check of a mother bear and her new baby cubs to ensure the longevity of their pack. On a dive into the depths of the Caribbean with many different types of sharks, Gros, a veteran wildlife expert, experiences a close encounter with these often-misunderstood predators. A journey into the rainforests of Panama leads the team to an unexpected rescue mission to protect adorable sloths which are crucial to their ecosystem.

About the co-hosts
Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Protecting The Wild is co-hosted by veteran wildlife expert and former host of the original Wild Kingdom series, Peter Gros, who has more than 30 years of field experience with wildlife and endangered species. Gros first appeared on Wild Kingdom in 1985 as a co-host with Jim Fowler, who succeeded legendary zoologist and show founder Marlin Perkins. He’s joined by ecologist Dr. Rae Wynn-Grant, a National Geographic Explorer and research faculty member at the University of California – Santa Barbara.
Wild Kingdom co-hosts are available to serve as experts on a number of wildlife and conservation topics.
