Producer Management – Distribution Operations (DO) Agile Release Train

We are seeking a Senior Java / Mulesoft Integration Engineer to join the Modernization Madness team within our Distribution Operations (DO) Agile Release Train (ART). This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who enjoys building modern solutions, solving complex integration challenges, and serving as a technical leader and mentor within a collaborative Agile environment.

Our Producer Management team plays a critical role in ensuring producers are properly licensed and appointed to sell products in the states where they operate. As part of a significant modernization initiative, you will help drive the evolution of our technology landscape by modernizing applications, advancing integration capabilities, and supporting the transition toward future-state architecture.

In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Java development, integration patterns, and software engineering best practices to help establish development standards across the team. You will help design, build, and maintain MuleSoft APIs and integrations that connect legacy, primarily mainframe-based systems with a growing ecosystem of downstream business applications and partners.

Beyond technical execution, we are looking for a strong communicator and strategic thinker who is curious about the "why" behind business and technical challenges. You will collaborate closely with business and technology partners to identify opportunities for improvement, influence solution design, and drive outcomes that extend beyond simply delivering requirements.

As a shared-service team supporting multiple business areas across the organization, reliability, stability, and transparency are essential. This role will help ensure stakeholders understand system impacts, risks, and status while contributing to solutions that improve operational efficiency and long-term maintainability.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

• Estimated Salary: $145,000 - $158,000.
• 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.

• Primarily remote, with occasional onsite collaboration — historically about once or twice a year (e.g., for PI planning or team events).
• This role can be fully remote.

This role is classified as remote; however, periodic in-person attendance will be required at times for activities such as PI planning, training, or other business-critical meetings.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Lead the design and development of Java-based applications and services that enable critical Producer Management capabilities across the organization.
• Design and implement integration solutions using MuleSoft APIs and other modern integration patterns to connect legacy systems with downstream business applications and partners.
• Establish and promote software engineering best practices, including code quality standards, automated testing, secure development, and CI/CD methodologies.
• Act as a senior technical resource and mentor to less experienced engineers, modeling strong engineering practices and communication.
• Partner with car leadership and business partners to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate system impact and status.
• Critically evaluate the root cause of problems and proactively recommend improvements.
• Participate in an on-call rotation supporting shared-service systems relied on by multiple business units.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications using Java, MuleSoft, and related technologies.
• Experience integrating modern applications with legacy systems, including mainframe or other enterprise back-end platforms.
• Comfort working with data pipelines and reporting-oriented data systems (e.g., Snowflake or similar).
• Demonstrated senior-level technical leadership: strong communicator, dependable, trustworthy, and an effective mentor to junior engineers.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a track record of digging into root causes rather than just symptoms.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions that improve system reliability and performance
• High learning agility and a collaborative, team-first mindset — comfortable picking up new pieces of a wide, evolved technology stack.
• Able to work remotely, with the ability to travel onsite for periodic in-person collaboration.

PREFERRED:

• Experience with Java and Spring Boot
• AWS or other similar cloud experience
• MuleSoft
• Containerization / Kubernetes exposure
• Informatica, IDMC, (Informatica Data Management Cloud) or similar data-management tooling
