The Financial & Strategic Enterprise Risk Management team is seeking an Actuarial Associate or Actuary (depending on experience) who will utilize financial and analytical expertise to lead and execute activities supporting the management of the organization’s risks, with a focus on financial and strategic risks.  The ideal candidate is a collaborative, dynamic, and action-oriented individual who enjoys solving problems, driving solutions, and possesses a creative and continuous-improvement mindset.  This role will be integral in strengthening our risk culture, further developing foundational risk management elements, and supporting the organization in sound risk-reward decision making. 

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Estimated Salary (Levels have variable responsibilities and qualifications):
    • Actuarial Associate (ASA): $113,000 - $144,000 plus annual bonus opportunity.
    • Actuary (FSA): $139,000 - $177,000 plus annual bonus opportunity.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead and execute risk management activities aligned to the organization’s risk framework and three lines of defense model.
  • Analyze financial/non-financial data to identify trends or indicators and provide actionable recommendations based on analysis.
  • Serve as an actuarial project lead, managing scope, timelines, and cross-functional coordination for complex initiatives and analytical projects related to both financial and non-financial aspects of the organization.
  • Evaluate how macroeconomic, regulatory, and emerging trends affect the organization’s risk profile.
  • Mentor and guide risk management staff, providing technical direction, on-the-job training, and performance input. 
  • Use data, analytics, technology, and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement and risk-informed decision making. 
 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • ASA or FSA designation required. Candidates hired at the ASA level will be enrolled in Mutual of Omaha’s actuarial student program, with support and expectation to continue progress toward FSA. 
  • Strong actuarial foundation with experience in pricing, financial modeling, and analytical reporting. 
  • Broad understanding of insurance products, financial drivers, and risk management principles. 
  • Ability to translate complex financial and actuarial concepts into clear insights for business partners and leadership. 
  • Proven ability to influence leaders, partner across teams, and communicate clearly and confidently. 
  • Proven ability to lead projects and support the development of others.

  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
