As a Supervisor, Claims, you will lead and support team functions within the Claims department. You'll oversee performance of associates through the monitoring and coaching of subordinate staff to ensure performance expectations are met, participate in departmental initiatives utilizing change management techniques and concepts, and demonstrate understanding and ability to practice Operational Excellence concepts and techniques.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Team Leadership: You'll be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading Claims department activities. This involves overseeing the hiring, training, development, quality assurance and coaching of employees. You will create employee work schedules and oversee work queues as well as project and report on individual and team metrics.
  • Process Improvement: You'll be instrumental in reviewing and enhancing department processes, with a focus on eliminating waste. An important part of your day to day will be to collaborate with supporting departments to resolve service delivery, system, and quality issues.  Staying abreast of federal and state legislation affecting business processing and claims handling will be an essential aspect of your responsibilities.
  • Strategic Planning: You'll develop short-range business plans, be responsible for budget awareness, and actively participate in cross-functional work groups. Your analytical skills will come into play as you analyze and implement processes that enhance corporate profitability, efficiency, and quality. In addition, you'll represent the Claims department as a subject matter expert both within and outside the division, handling escalated issues.
  • Problem Resolution: Your role will require proficient problem resolution skills, involving collaboration with several internal departments. Reviewing, analyzing, and resolving claims issues and inquiries will be crucial. Establishing and maintaining effective training programs is also part of your responsibilities.
  • Leadership Skills: You'll demonstrate strong leadership skills in talent management, tactical and strategic vision. Your role involves exercising discretion in formulating and implementing departmental business decisions.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Industry Knowledge: You'll leverage your seasoned insurance background with a thorough understanding of Medicare Supplement insurance claims. Your knowledge of business processing functions, systems technology, and federal and state regulations will be essential.
  • Experience: A track record of proven effectiveness in managing a service environment.  Your practical experience and commitment to excellence are what truly matter.
  • Leadership Acumen: Your effective management skills, strong leadership, analytical abilities, decision-making abilities, and excellent communication and human relations skills will be crucial. Your ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects and activities will set you up for success.
  • Strategic Thinking: Exercise sound and independent judgment, showcasing your ability to think beyond existing barriers, methods, and practices. Your experience in project management, coupled with an understanding of methodologies and tools, will be valuable.
  • Industry Knowledge: You'll leverage your seasoned insurance background with a thorough understanding of insurance claims. Your knowledge of business processing functions, systems technology, and federal and state regulations will be essential.

  • Ability to work at our home office located in Omaha, Nebraska one day per week.
