WORLD RHINO DAY

I'm here at the world famous Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium on World Rhino Day.

What we're doing right now is looking at a very comfortable and happy Indian rhino, which is part of their SSP breeding program.

One of the problems with the Indian rhino was habitat loss - people competing for their grasslands and forest area where the rhinos live naturally - as well as poaching.

Historically, there have been rumors that the hair, this horn, is actually compressed hair is a form of aphrodisiac or good for medication. Scientifically this is absolutely proven that there is no medicinal purpose for rhino horn.

Where it belongs is right here on this rare and endangered Rhino.
