Mutual of Omaha is seeking an experienced high-performing leader with extensive expertise in statutory accounting and financial reporting, as well as a strong understanding of financial close processes and the Model Audit Rule for insurance companies. WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:
- Estimated Salary: $140,000-$200,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
- Benefits and Perks, 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
- Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year.
- Regular associates receive 11 paid holidays in 2024, which includes 2 floating holidays that are added to your prorated personal time to be used at your discretion.
- Regular associates are provided sick leave through the use of personal time. Associates working 40 hours a week can receive up to 40 hours of personal time in 2024, which is prorated based on the start date. Additionally you will receive two floating holidays in 2024 by way of personal time that may be used at your discretion.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Lead and Manage Your Team: Oversee and develop a high-performing team responsible for financial reporting, processes and internal controls, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and requirements.
- Cultivate Relationships: Maintain a positive relationship with regulators, external auditors and internal business partners.
- Review Financial Statements: Review and provide direction on the preparation and presentation of the statutory financial statements, ensuring they are accurate, timely and adhere to statutory accounting principles and policies.
- Communicate Financial Insights: Analyze, interpret and communicate statutory financial results to a variety of audiences. Ensure that complex technical topics are presented clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Expertise in Statutory Financial Reporting: An expert understanding of statutory accounting guidance and financial operations, including regulatory and audited financial reporting, financial close processes, and internal controls over financial reporting.
- Analytical and Attention to Detail Skills: Attention to detail and follow-up, analytical acumen and excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage and coordinate multiple competing priorities across projects and teams.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities in verbal, non-verbal and in written forms. Clearly articulating complex concepts to a variety of audiences.
- You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
- Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.

PREFERRED:
- Life and health insurance industry experience.
- 8+ years of financial reporting experience at an insurance company or Big 4 / regional public accounting firm.
- Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent.
- Proven experience in establishing and nurturing relationships with regulators or external auditors.
- Ability to successfully navigate shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
