As a pioneering wildlife television program, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom held viewers captive watching wild animals free in their exotic natural habitats. The adventures shown on Wild Kingdom made nature and the importance of conservation come alive for generations of television audiences. For many families, watching Wild Kingdom was a Sunday night tradition. Check out these facts about the show:

    • Covered six of the seven continents, with environments ranging from deserts below sea level in Africa to sub-freezing inclines 16,000 feet high in the Himalayas
    • Averaged 34 million television viewers in the United States and kept most of that audience for 25 years
    • Produced 330 classic episodes, 62 Fast Facts, 50 webisodes, 28 Field Notes and 4 “5 Facts” that focused on the timeless value of wildlife conservation
    • Achieved nearly 200,000 followers on social media
    • Partnered with RFD-TV to bring the classic episodes back on television
