Mutual of Omaha’s “Wild Kingdom” Float Wins Director Award in Tournament of Roses Parade

OMAHA, Neb. (Jan. 4, 2022) – As a first time Rose Parade float participant, Mutual of Omaha experienced many wonderful moments in the 133rd annual parade in Pasadena, California, on Jan. 1. Perhaps the most exciting was the float being awarded the parade’s Director Award.
The Director Award recognizes the most outstanding artistic design and use of floral and non-floral materials. Each year the parade selects three judges who are tasked with selecting award winners.
The 55-foot Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom/RFD-TV float featured the king of the jungle leaping over a safari jeep driven by current Wild Kingdom host Peter Gros. The jeep was trailed by a menagerie of African wildlife, including a zebra and twin giraffes. Also represented on the float were a wolf, polar bear and penguins from the Arctic and Antarctic, as well as a whale and sharks emerging from the ocean. Viewers may have recognized Wild Kingdom’s legendary hosts, Marlin Perkins and Jim Fowler, who were included through photorealistic floragraphs.
