Do I Qualify for Medicare Supplement Insurance?

If you are enrolled in Medicare, you are likely eligible for Medicare supplement insurance. However, if you are enrolled in one of the following programs, you are not eligible for Medicare supplement insurance, as it is not necessary:
  • Medicare Advantage
  • Employer/Union Group Coverage
  • Veterans Administration Benefits
  • TRICARE

Otherwise, as long as you’re enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B, you may apply for a Medicare supplement policy from any insurance company that’s licensed in your state to sell one.

What does Medicare Supplement Insurance do?

Medicare supplement insurance helps pay for some of the expanses that may not be covered by Medicare. If you rely on Medicare as your primary health coverage, a Medicare suppplement insurance policy can help pay for certain costs that Medicare doesn't - Medicare deductibles, copayments and coinsurance.
