Sustaining a Legacy
Up until May 27, 2003, the Scott family was living the California dream. Brad was a computer program director for a savings and loan, and Donna, a chef, stayed home to raise their two teenage children, Lindsey and Casey. They lived in their dream home in a quiet neighborhood with a good school district.
Family time was important. Gathering for dinner every night was a must. When they weren't supporting the kids in their swimming and martial arts activities, the family could be found catching a wave at their favorite surfing spot.
But the Scott's lives were turned upside down on May 27, 2003, when Brad was killed in a motorcycle accident.
The grieving process surrounding Brad's death has changed the focus of each day. But, thanks to the life insurance Brad and Donna purchased through United of Omaha Life Insurance Company, a Mutual of Omaha Company, some things haven't changed.
The family still gathers for dinner every night, but the circle around the table has grown tighter.
"We've all been forced to deal with a lot of stuff," Donna said. "The kids have had to grow up way too fast. Grieving takes time and work. Fortunately, thanks to the life insurance, we have that time."
Donna credits their insurance agent for helping give the family the time they need to grieve.
