Voluntary Short-Term Disability Insurance

You can build a benefits package that employees find attractive and valuable by adding voluntary short-term disability insurance from Mutual of Omaha. Employees are responsible for making premium payments, so your company is free from additional expense.

  • Benefit amounts of 50 or 60 percent of pre-disability salary
  • Maximum monthly benefits from $200 to $1,200 with higher maximums available depending on group size
  • Elimination periods of 7, 14, 30 calendar days
  • Benefit duration of 9 to 26 weeks
  • Survivor benefits available
  • Own job definition of disability
  • Partial disability benefits
  • Waiver of premium while collecting benefits
  • Vocational rehabilitation program – a nationally-certified assistance program to help employees safely return to work
  • FMLA Administration – full-service assistance with Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Administration
  • Travel Assistance – provides assistance to covered employees traveling outside of the country or over 100 miles from home
  • Employee Assistance Program – Basic, Enhanced Basic and Comprehensive options available

Eligibility requirements

  • Minimum enrollment of 10 employees or 25 percent of eligible employees, whichever is greater
  • All active, full-time employees working 30 or more hours per week
