The Hiring Process

Job Search

Begin by checking out our online database for your ideal career opportunity. Search the current job openings by job category, location or key words. If you don’t find exactly what you’re looking for, try using our job finder to create a profile and submit general information to our candidate database.

Applying at Mutual

To be considered for openings, you must complete an application online. If you don’t have access to a computer, you can access the site from Mutual of Omaha’s home office headquarters. Once you’ve applied, we’ll send you an e-mail confirmation letting you know your application was received. If you need special accommodations to complete the application, please contact us in advance and we’ll make the necessary arrangements for you.

Timeline

Our hiring process can take anywhere from two weeks to three months depending on the level of the position you’re applying for.

Initial Screening

If you have the skills and experience we’re seeking, a Mutual of Omaha recruiter will conduct a preliminary screening – typically by phone – to help us learn more about your background and interests. This is also an opportunity for you to learn more about the job and ask questions. In some cases, you will be asked to complete online assessments. The assessments will be sent to you via e-mail, so be sure to check your e-mail frequently and complete the assessments by the specified deadline.

Onsite Interview

After the initial screening, you may be invited for an in-person interview. Because Mutual of Omaha places great value on relationships and is a team-oriented environment, you may be asked to meet with a variety of people, including the hiring manager, potential colleagues and business partners within the organization. The perspectives of various individuals – all who may be interacting with your potential role – help evaluate your skills and determine if Mutual of Omaha is the right place for you. The in-person interview is also an opportunity for you to share detailed information about your previous experience. We want to learn as much as we can about your background and your interests in the current opportunity. Feel free to ask questions too. We’ll be expecting it! This is a prime opportunity for you to learn first-hand what it’s like to work at Mutual of Omaha.

Final steps

Once all interviews are complete, we’ll evaluate each candidate’s skills and experience. This process can take time. If you question where your candidacy stands, feel free to contact your recruiter directly.

An employment offer will be contingent upon background check and a pre-employment drug screen. Upon acceptance of the employment offer, we will discuss and determine your start date. Most employees will start on a Monday and are immediately enrolled in the New Employee Orientation.
