OMAHA, Neb. – The next installment of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom on the web will feature the giraffe, whose long, graceful neck and massive size place them among the Earth’s most awe-inspiring creatures.
Wild Guide Stephanie Arne gets up-close and personal with the amazing giraffes of the Dallas Zoo in Wild Kingdom’s latest series of web videos.
“Giraffes are uniquely adapted to their African savanna habitat,” Arne said. “Their spotted coats offer excellent camouflage, their long legs allow them to gallop at speeds up to 35 mph and their massive hooves can deliver a blow strong enough to kill a lion. And there’s so much more to learn about these fascinating animals.”
Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom web series kicked off last year as part of its 50th anniversary celebration. The second installment of the Wild Kingdom web series features shorter, more focused videos with a wealth of supporting content as well as unique social media content for Wild Kingdom’s Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Tumblr, Instagram and Pinterest communities.
Other topics Wild Kingdom is exploring in the second installment of its web series include:
- The complex and fascinating world of elephants featuring the Fort Worth Zoo’s three-generation elephant herd
- Cheetahs and the incredible bond between a young cheetah and the Labrador retriever it is being raised with at the Dallas Zoo
- The wonderful and wacky world of penguins, featuring Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium’s flock of more than 85 King, Gentoo and Rockhopper penguins
Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom premiered on network television on Jan. 6, 1963. It pioneered the format of wildlife TV and remains one of the most loved and respected wildlife programs in TV history.
