Omaha, Neb. – (February 26, 2008) Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom kicks off its sixth season on the newly updated Animal Planet network at 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, with the premiere of “Rhino Nights,” a dangerous journey into the mysterious world of the black rhino.
Once again in its historic Sunday evening time slot, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom brings viewers entrancing stories of some of the most exotic and beautiful creatures on our planet.
In “Rhino Nights,” viewers will follow African wildlife expert Saba Douglas-Hamilton into the mysterious world of the black rhino. Saba begins a remarkable quest to dispel the myth that rhinos are solitary, covert and aggressive animals by bravely entering a hidden rhino world. By the light of the moon, Saba hopes to discover the truth about the Black rhino’s mysterious social behaviors.
Throughout the season’s 12 new episodes, Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom will transport audiences to the far corners of the world, using the latest technology to explore wild animals in their natural habitats. From the African savannas to the high mountains of Pakistan, viewers experience uncharted territory and the unpredictability of the animal kingdom.
In “Cheetahs: Blood Brothers,” viewers follow a band of cheetahs in Botswana’s Linyanti Plains as they protect their territory from a host of scavenging predators. “Buffalo Warriors” shares the unique story of hunter-turned “buffalo whisperer“ Lindsay Hunt, who tirelessly works to stop an outbreak of Bovine tuberculosis in the Cape buffalo population of Africa. And, in “Bandits of Selous” viewers will experience one of the world’s last remaining true wildernesses, the Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania, and the mongoose ”bandits“ that inhabit it.
