Omaha, Neb. – (October 7, 2011) More than 5,700 Volunteer Hours and Nearly $50,000 in Grants Provided to Nonprofit Organizations During September!
During September, more than 1,400 associates in 33 communities across the country took time out of their work day to volunteer as part of the company's National Month of Caring effort. Mutual of Omaha designated last month as National Month of Caring – a chance for employees across the country to step out of the office and spend time helping out a nonprofit organization in their community. More than 5,700 hours were spent volunteering during the month while nearly $50,000 in grants were awarded to facilitate the volunteer projects.
"National Month of Caring is Mutual of Omaha's way of giving back to the communities in which we do business across the country," said Christine Johnson, president of the Mutual of Omaha Foundation. "We hope through this effort, employees will realize the win-win experience of volunteerism and remain an active volunteer in their communities."
