Mutual of Omaha Designates September as National Month of Caring
More than 1,100 employees committed to volunteering in nearly 50 communities across the country!

Omaha, Neb. – (August 27, 2010) For the many nonprofit organizations serving those in need or addressing critical issues facing our communities, volunteers are essential to realizing their extraordinary visions. To lend a hand, Mutual of Omaha has designated September as National Month of Caring among its employees.

During National Month of Caring, Mutual of Omaha is encouraging all employees across the country to step out of the office and spend time helping out a nonprofit organization in their community. Each Mutual associate has the opportunity to take four hours of paid time to volunteer during a work day. National Month of Caring is the company's first-ever, nationally coordinated volunteer activity.

Mutual associates will participate in projects ranging from construction and landscaping to sorting and organizing donations. More than 1,100 employees have already committed to volunteering in nearly 50 communities across the country. Employees at the company's home office in Omaha, Neb. have the opportunity to sign up for one of several volunteer opportunities going on throughout the month, while field offices across the U.S. have organized group volunteer projects in their own communities.

"National Month of Caring is Mutual of Omaha's way of giving back to the communities in which we do business across the country," said Christine Johnson, president of the Mutual of Omaha Foundation. "Corporate citizenship and volunteerism have great emphasis in Mutual's culture. We hope through this effort, employees will realize the win-win experience of volunteerism and remain an active volunteer in their communities."

Mutual of Omaha is a full-service, multi-line provider of insurance and financial products for individuals, businesses and groups throughout the United States.
