Daniel P. Neary has been Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Mutual of Omaha since December 2004. He previously served as President from August 2003 until December 2004. Mr. Neary joined Mutual of Omaha as an actuary in 1976 and held a number of positions in the Group business area, including Executive Vice President in charge of that strategic business unit from 1999 until August 2003. He has been a Director of Mutual of Omaha since August 2003.
Robert L. Clarke is a Senior Partner and founder of the global financial services practice at the law firm of Bracewell & Giuliani LLP in Houston, Texas. He joined the firm in 1969 and in 1985 he was appointed U.S. Comptroller of the Currency, serving until 1992, at which time he rejoined Bracewell & Giuliani. Mr. Clarke has been a Director of Mutual of Omaha since November 2008.
W. Gary Gates is President and Chief Executive Officer of Omaha Public Power District (OPPD). Mr. Gates began his career at OPPD in September 1972 and was elected President in January 2004. He has served in several positions within the organization, including Vice President for OPPD’s nuclear organization before being named President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Gates has been a Director of Mutual of Omaha since 2007.
Jeffrey M. Heller recently retired as Vice Chairman of Electronic Data Systems (EDS) when Hewlett-Packard Company completed its acquisition of EDS in August 2008. From 1996 to 2000, he was President and Chief Operating Officer and in December 2000, he was elected Vice Chairman of the Board of EDS. In 2002, he retired from EDS and then rejoined the Company in March 2003 as President and Chief Operating Officer. He was elected Vice Chairman in 2006. He has been a Director of Mutual of Omaha since 1998.
Derek R. McClain served as Chief Financial Officer of Trammel Crow Co., a position he held until the corporation was purchased by CB Richard Ellis Group in December 2007. He joined Trammel Crow in February 1998 as its General Counsel and was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2000. Mr. McClain has been a Director of Mutual of Omaha since December 2007.
James G. McFarlane is Executive Vice President, Brokerage Services Division, and Chairman of the Western Region, for Arthur J. Gallagher Insurance Brokers, serving in this position since 1997. He joined the organization in 1991 when Camden Insurance Brokers merged with Arthur J. Gallagher. He has been a Director of Mutual of Omaha since 2003.
Paula R. Meyer has served as an independent management consultant since 2006. Prior to that, from 1998-2006, Meyer served in various leadership roles at Ameriprise Financial, Inc. (formerly American Express Financial Corporation) most recently serving as President of RiversSource Funds (formerly America Express Funds). She is a member of the Boards of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines and First Command Financial Services.
Admiral Richard W. Mies, USN (Ret.) is President and Chief Executive Officer of The Mies Group Ltd. He previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Hicks and Associates, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). He joined SAIC in 2002 as a Senior Vice President and served as both a Sector Manager and Deputy Group President. Admiral Mies completed a 35 year career in the US Navy, commanding the US Strategic Command for four years prior to his retirement. He has been a Director of Mutual of Omaha since 2002.
Anthony J. Principi currently serves as a Senior Vice President of Pfizer, Inc., as well as Chairman of the Board of QTC Management, Inc. He served as Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from 2001 until March 2005. Prior to 2001, he was Republican Chief Counsel and Staff Director of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, a partner in the law firm of Luce, Forward, Hamilton & Scripps, and Senior Vice President of Lockheed Martin. In 2005, he was appointed by President Bush as Chairman of the 2005 Military Base Realignment and Closure Commission. He has been a Director of Mutual of Omaha since 2005.
