Mutual of Omaha Gives Back Through National Month of Caring

OMAHA, Neb., October 10, 2012 – During September, more than 1,300 associates in 33 communities across the country took time out of their work day to volunteer as part of the company”s National Month of Caring effort. Mutual of Omaha designated last month as National Month of Caring – a chance for employees across the country to spend time helping out a nonprofit organization in their community.

Mutual of Omaha provided all employees with an opportunity to take four hours of paid civic time to volunteer. More than 4,000 hours were spent volunteering during the month while nearly $50,000 in grants were awarded to facilitate the volunteer projects.

“National Month of Caring is Mutual of Omaha's way of giving back to the communities in which we do business across the country,” said Christine Johnson, president of the Mutual of Omaha Foundation. “Now in its third year, we have enlisted more than 4,000 volunteers. We hope through this effort, employees will realize the win-win experience of volunteerism and remain an active volunteer in their communities.”
