Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational Tickets Now on Sale!

OMAHA, Neb., June 4, 2012 – A giant swimmer emerging from the grounds of the Mutual of Omaha home office complex welcomes visitors and celebrates the spirit of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, which will be held at Omaha’s CenturyLink Center June 25-July 2.

A corporate sponsor of USA Swimming since 2001, Mutual of Omaha installed the 12-foot tall, 25-foot wide and 16-foot deep swimmer facing one of the city’s busiest thoroughfares.

Vee Corp. of Minneapolis created the giant swimmer using 300 pounds of steel, 750 pounds of foam and 1,400 pounds of hard urethane. It took more than 800 work hours and sophisticated 3-D computer modeling to complete the dramatic sculpture.

Installation of the giant swimmer is the first phase of a two-part plan to demonstrate the company’s support of swimming and provide the “wow factor” that builds excitement around the Olympic Team Trials and the preceding Mutual of Omaha Swimvitational, which will be held at the CenturyLink Center June 8-10 using the same pools as the Olympic trials.

“Mutual of Omaha is proud of its association with the sport of swimming and we want show our excitement for the Olympic Team Trials and create the kind of atmosphere that makes them memorable for the athletes and fans,” said Mutual Senior Vice President John Hildenbiddle.

For those who want an up-close view of the giant swimmer, parking is available in the Mutual of Omaha lot immediately west of the sculpture or at Midtown Crossing.
