Mutual of Omaha Designates September as National Month of Caring
OMAHA, Neb., August 29, 2011 – For the many nonprofit organizations serving those in need or addressing critical issues facing our communities, volunteers are essential to realizing their extraordinary visions. To lend a hand, Mutual of Omaha has designated September as National Month of Caring among its employees.
During National Month of Caring, Mutual of Omaha is encouraging all employees across the country to step out of the office and spend time helping out a nonprofit organization in their community. Each Mutual employee has the opportunity to take four hours of paid time to volunteer during a work day.
Mutual of Omaha associates will participate in projects ranging from construction and landscaping to sorting and organizing donations. More than 1,200 employees have already committed to volunteering in more than 30 communities across the country and the number of participants continues to grow. Employees at the company’s home office in Omaha, Neb. have the opportunity to sign up for one of several volunteer opportunities going on throughout the month, while field offices across the U.S. have organized group volunteer projects in their own communities.
“During last year’s inaugural National Month of Caring, more than 1,500 associates across the country participated and we expect that to grow this year,” said Christine Johnson, president of the Mutual of Omaha Foundation. “National Month of Caring is Mutual of Omaha’s way of giving back to the communities in which we do business across the country. We hope through this effort, employees will realize the win-win experience of volunteerism and remain an active volunteer in their communities.”
Excellent photo/video opportunities will be available during volunteer activities. There will be plenty of volunteer activities throughout September.
