These pieces of artwork were created by four different Camp Fire after-school programs. Elementary students created acrylic paintings of their dreams that were then cut and collaged to form the image of a giant gift bow. High school students then constructed a small mural made of birch and pine where you “open the gift” created with the bow. The boxes spill out their contents as they roll through space, sometimes leaping off the panel.

In this work, participants created fabric postcards. They started with raw fabric to create the front of the postcard and used paint, dye and other media to create the art. Next, they wrote their dreams on the back. The cards were actually mailed to supporters of the Hope Center who then donated them back for this exhibit.

This mixed media piece represents the work of six age groups ranging from ages 5 to 18. Each girl visually represented her dreams using a variety of techniques including painting, mixed media drawing, relief prints, stencils, monoprint and text. A core group of junior high and high school students painted the background, collaged the individual projects together and added pattern and text. The work was finished with acrylic glazes and an embellished hardboard star and heart.
