Employee Involvement
Mutual of Omaha employees have always been committed to lending a helping hand when it is needed most. Whether it’s responding to the needs of fellow coworkers, donating resources to victims of tragedies or volunteering countless hours in the community, Mutual’s employees are constantly giving back.
The following are a few of the ways our employees help those in need:

More than 1,300 employees in 33 communities across the country participated in the 2012 National Month of Caring. Volunteers spent more than 4,000 hours performing tasks ranging from construction and landscaping to sorting and organizing donations at various nonprofit facilities. In addition, nearly $50,000 in grants were provided to partner organizations.
Mutual of Omaha introduced National Month of Caring in 2010 as an opportunity for employees to give back to the communities in which they live and work and forge lasting relationships with organizations serving their communities.
"National Month of Caring is one way the company can demonstrate its commitment to the communities in which we do business," said Christine Johnson, president of the Mutual of Omaha Foundation. "Through our volunteer program, we are building lasting relationships with organizations that are strengthening our communities - and it gives our employees an opportunity to be a part of that effort in a meaningful way."
The spirit of volunteerism runs deep at Mutual of Omaha. For the past century, Mutual employees have given their time and talents to many worthwhile causes, establishing long-lasting relationships in the community. Through Mutual of Omaha’s Volunteer Program, that legacy continues today. Each year, hundreds of Mutual employees connect with volunteer opportunities throughout the Omaha/Council Bluffs community, donating thousands of volunteer hours to make a difference.
Each year, Mutual of Omaha employees come together to support the United Way of the Midlands in their quest to provide support and hope to individuals and families in the community. For more than 25 consecutive years, Mutual employees have exceeded the company’s United Way fundraising goal, making Mutual one of the leading contributors in Omaha. And, for the past two years, Mutual of Omaha employees have contributed more than $1 million to help make a difference.
Mutual of Omaha’s Talent Sharing Program matches employees with nonprofit organizations in the community, where they have an opportunity to donate their time, skills and expertise. These employees take on a variety of roles at their respective organizations, from serving on the board of directors to helping with short-term projects, including everything from strategic planning to computer networking projects.
