Housed at Mutual of Omaha, INROADS Nebraska and western Iowa division helps place some of the best minority college students with area companies. Every year Mutual of Omaha employs several INROADS interns and hosts special training seminars for them.
Mutual of Omaha is an active member of the Black Executive Exchange Program (BEEP) at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, called BEEP. Through this program, African American college students learn how to reach their full potential. They also establish excellent business contacts for future careers.
Mutual of Omaha and the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance (IMA) have partnered to create the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Program, recognizing the accomplishments of African American students in the Omaha community as they pursue further education and training. The $1,000 scholarships are presented each year at an annual luncheon honoring Dr. King.
In 2009, Mutual of Omaha joined forces with four Omaha companies to sponsor the city's first Diversity Week. The purpose of the week was to create an annual event that recognizes the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace and raises Omaha's profile as a community that seeks out and welcomes diverse talent.
